Scented Lava Screens

Adventuring to mountain tops with friends
Means conversations on the open road.
When pavement ends, the rough terrain then sends
A swinging scent pot into panic mode.

That purple yankee candle held my gaze
And that’s the drive’s main memory that stays.

My teacher has a lava lamp collection.
The lucid sleek amoebas hypnotize
And fall and float on streams of heat convection.
The molten color blobs take hold of eyes.

The students watched them gurgle all through class.
I wasn’t sure how some of them did pass.

Those bright lit boards hang blaring up above
And flash their tasty featured foods on screens
To make the hungry patrons give their love
To plates of spicy chicken, steak, and beans.

At dinner, celebrating with my Love,
I swear he watched those screens much more than me.
