Sustenance
Ruffling my hair tenderly,
with her time worn fingers,
my mother once said :
‘When it’s dumb dark,
and none is left to hark;
Fear not , move alone ,
When all have turned away,
and storms cross your way;
Shudder not , move alone.
When you are left friendless,
to cross the wilderness;
Waver not , move alone.
Survive not the challenges,
take them all head-on.
Rest not a while ,
Just move on , all alone’ .
‘And why can’t i take rest ?’
Promptly i had enquired.
‘Because , your share of the rest,
has been taken , to the best,
by your progenitors dead ‘.
Looking in my eyes,
then she had said .
