Bondage

When freedom is measured by the i and the mine,
faith sponsors the ways of treason.
When souls crumble to take head-on,
the power that swallows up reason.
When pyres are live in ruins of time,
and hate yet rules emotion.
When thoughts are chained by myths,
for bondage the rituals are chosen.
What hope of deliverance lies in death,
if the bonds in life are not broken.
