In the year 2020

Happy New Year America!

Everyone was excited to celebrate 2020! “New year, New me” often said.
Headline news: A lethal virus is spreading quickly through China. Many dead.

We are safe, we thought. Many miles away from there. All of a sudden, the virus was now here.

Okay, that’s only one, we can handle that, right?
This has become a war we were not prepared to fight.

February 2020;  a pandemic is now starting to affect the human race. Only protection: wash your hands, social distance and don’t touch your face!

No social gatherings. Schools, Sports, weddings and funerals all forced to stop.
Only pharmacies and supermarkets open for those who need to shop

Restaurants, bars, movies and malls, what’s next? If you want to talk to your friends and family you can always text.

March 2020: Numbers continue to rise. Many lives have changed, many lives are lost. If you don’t follow instructions and stay inside, your life may be the cost.

Hospitals are full and are running short on supplies. Shelter in place: Essential workers allowed, others must stay home but not everyone complies

A deadly virus holds us hostage, for which there is no cure. Only time will tell, I know we’ll get through this; but will things ever be the way they were?

I have been using poetry as an outlet of letting feelings out ever since I was a teenager. I find it very therapeutic when times can be tough. Whether you’re mourning a loss, find yourself feeling down or just dealing with day to day challenging moments. more…
