IN A GREAT AMOUNT

  Allow me to
I'll tell you a story.
   The one person I trusted,
Stripped me of my glory.

I try hard to not think about
Where she has been.
It doesn't matter how hard I try,
Thoughts of her come creeping in.

   She took the sun,
And things that were warm.
   I'm still here,
Riding out the storm.

   I know who I am
I know what I'm not.
   I know what I have,
And haven't got.

   She embraced me,
My broken soul.
   Now back to,
Square peg, round hole.

   Never to soar again,
On my broken wings.
   She played me like
A puppet on some strings.

   I'm drowning in
Pain and despair.
I will never forget that smirk,
As she watched me gasp for air.

At one time she brought peace,
All that remains is destruction.
   Her potion brewed with
The art of seduction.

   That blow she delivered,
Knocked me sense less.
   I stood before her helplessly
And defenseless.

She left me stewing in her juices,
A slow burn.
I can see now, a hard
Lesson to learn.

  She never even gave
Me a chance.
   The after math of
A dying romance.

  I have been wounded before,
More than you can count.
   My entire life, fighting hate,
In a great amount
