The Pain She Can't Heal

She sits alone questioning her past
Wanted to heal what hurts
And forgive those who have hurt her.

Some of the pain is able to heal
She can easily let it go,
But this pain is different,
There is hurt,
Fear that cannot be fixed by band-aids or poetry.

Too many people have hurt her
They have caused fears and distress in her life.
Every day resisting the urge to disappear.
But one day she found someone.
This person listened and understood.

This person taught her that
she’s going to learn that this life will hit you, hard, in the face.
And that her hands will always be too small to catch the pain
 She wants to heal.

She learned to heal and let go
But that doesn’t mean it's gone from her mind
She will never forget the pain and fear she experienced from the humans
But she will also never forget those who
 saved her.
