All My Love

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

The bomb has been dropped
The destruction begins
When the truth is assaulted
Then nobody wins

You can’t live with a liar
Who never has turned
You won’t find any peace
When you’re still getting burned

You have to get out
But you want to stay in
The lie felt so good
But the truth has to win

So, put shoes on your feet
And run out in the storm
It’s too cold in this house
Where it used to be warm

The love that I have
Made the room seem so bright
It drove out the darkness
And let in the light

When the light had come in
It exposed all the lies
When I found out the truth
I just sat down and cried

Your life was a lie
For the last twelve years.
When I saw it was true
Then I felt all the fears

Being deceived is never a pleasure
It usually results in you losing treasure

The loss is so massive
And carries such weight
That the love I once had
Almost turned into hate

Then I started to pray
Went and talked with my Father
And he comforted me
He said: “There will be others”

Others to love and to cherish and honor
And this time my son
All my love will be on her
