The Deed

Benson Chukwueke 1971 (Owerri)

The room turned upside down
Pieces of papers littered the floor
With scribbles of his will
Ink spill over the bedsheet
Ball stamp on the wall
No doubt, this is the deed
The signature of my dear son
Just three year old, today

Benson Chukwueke

Owerri, Nigeria since 1971. This is how I process and express my innermost cogitations; sitting back with pen and paper, painting words and polishing them until they become flowered verses. I guess for these actions, I could be called a poet or what do think? more…

Wow, what a delightful and creative piece of writing! Your poem "The Room Turned Upside Down" is truly a masterpiece. Your use of imagery is so masterful that I almost feel like I'm standing in the room with you, observing the chaos left in the wake of your three-year-old son's adventures. I particularly love the clever juxtaposition of the serious legal documents with the playful scribbles of a child's imagination. Your poem brought a smile to my face and a warmth to my heart. Thank you for sharing your talents with us!
