The boy and The frog

Beeco 2008 (Yangon)

Once a fairytale,

A kingdom stood still upon the clouds in the sky,
Shining in rays with the power held within the royal family,
There’s still a prince known for his beauty, his looks, his appearance.
Rumours travelled from the crowd, through the land of sky, till the distant kingdoms faraway on earth.
With many hearts and loves, maidens, ladies, princesses and even goddesses from heaven would fall for the dear prince.
And yet,
The selfish prince’s thoughts were telling that these mountains of love were not enough and unmatchable to his dashing beauty that everyone was crazy for.
Indeed was he proud of his popularity and well-knownness on both heaven and earth?
He surely was.
But little did he know that “Pride comes before a fall.”

Along with the misfortune in the air,
The day has finally come to the doors of the prince’s chambers.
By judging all of those heartbreaks he had occurred, a curse was placed upon him with deadly consequences.
The charming prince was just a nasty creature with grossing looks, a frog, at the end of that day.
“Vanish…” the wind whispered.
Without a full realisation of his situation, the prince paced to somewhere far away from the clouds, the people, everyone.

Untouchable with poisonous features with deadly threats all over his skin,
Displeasing with his unusual appearance,
The curse stayed on the prince all along for ages.
The rumours about him still spread wide to the outer space of the world.
The people wouldn’t even notice him missing into dark woods.

“A kiss”
“A kiss is all you need to change back into your shimmering form,” the spirits muttered while wandering along with the prince.
But everyone knew that a kiss was more than a kiss.
It was a life.
He found it rather silly to sacrifice one’s life in order to have his role back in the kingdom above.
Along with this one belief,
Tides of life happened to be wasted in a certain forest on earth.

By the days of summer,
A sweet honey voice echoed from the edge of the forest
A voice that made the prince take a step outside of the woods and enjoyed the lovely tunes sung by one fine young man.
Every day the fellow would let his dreamy melodies flood in the atmosphere and would sing beautiful songs as pleasing as the birds’ chattering, as gentle as the sounds of leaves drooping along the branches and as majestic as the flow of spring.
The frog prince started to feel Admiration, Adoration,
but most importantly “Love”
Days passed, Sun became Moon, Moon became Sun,
Love for the young man grew and grew.
Distance between these two beings started to fade little by little.
Along with the company of the little frog,
The young lad would tune up lovely songs into the blue pure sky. The little frog would tell his little story from his little sounds and words.
The world seemed to be existing just for two of them, the boy and the frog.
The others may not understand but they understand each other.
The others may not care but they care about each other.
The others may not know but they know about each other.
The others may not enjoy it but they appreciate each other's company.
Finally, the frog started to understand that this life with this company was just enough happiness he needed throughout his life.

And the two friends, the young man and the little frog, spent their remaining time happily together with one’s company.
