To Tyrran

Sara Thelin 1969 (Buffalo NY)

I often feel like my like is a calamity; A practical joke God's played on humanity. Just a little joke He's playing to see how long I can take it. All the people I've ever known are helping God to play. A sadistic game I was told was called life. The rules: Make it or fake it. In this game it's alright to knock me down, pull me around, kick me down like the Rodeo Clown. Friends, precious, I've had quite a few. Most of them are waiting for me on the other side. My friends that are living are grown and gone away. I'm alone & forgotten. It's such a heavy weight. I'm trying to swim, it's a futile fight. I keep getting pulled down as I struggle with all my might. I see faces of friends and family blurred on the surface waiting for me. Will we be reunited after this agony? My heart aches. It breaks for me. My cremated ashes will never be claimed, collecting dust somewhere, as I do everyday. The only place I've ever wanted to be, anywhere in the sea. My body on the ocean floor. It's okay. Think I've been here before. The secret to His riddle. All the fighting and death that's ever been; It's us fighting ourselves from within. I've been dead for 3 minutes and I learned something. All is one and one for all. Means I know you. I am you. When all is over, said and done, I'll reach out for you and find you've always been there. I was just too caught up in my life and unaware. When the other side we'll finally reach you'll find that I was you and you were me.
