Angel in my eyes

rickie Weinand 1953 (Minnesota)

Ode

            For Maryann

Floating feather softly as the dawns new early morn
Into this human world this sweetest angel had been born
With hair so soft and shinny to match her pretty brown eyes true
One day I knew she’d tell me, oh so sweetly, “I love you”

All the angels in the heavens sang with voices raised on high
Their song to you the truest, soft love’s sweetest lullaby
As you lay there gently sleeping in loves arms, protected tight
Not knowing that years later I would find you in the night

With true celestial beauty it’s not hard to realize
That the heavens sent you to me you’re the angel in my eyes
And years from now we’ll whisper of love’s golden moments past
Together in each others arms our love will surely last

My soul it hungers deeply, oh how my heart it yearns for you
And my passion for you darling is never anything but true
Oh, search your soul my one true love and know that I am there
As sure as warm spring winds that may blow gently through your hair

Oh, restless souls a wandering on the changing winds of time
Two lonely hearts were searching for loves perfect endless rhyme
Yet caught between the echo’s of two others in their lives
Mistakes made in their younger days with the husbands and the wives

My brown eyed angel, sweetly do I sing these words to you
With tenderness and passion you have made my life anew
Stay with me now and share my days my heart it never lies
I’ve found the one that I love most, the angel in my eyes
