Backroad in Kentucky



I close my eyes and I can feel
That breeze I felt in Florida
Can almost hear those kids yelling in joy
While I walked down that dirt driveway

But I open my eyes and nothing's the same
There is no Florida breeze
That's are no kids yelling in joy
And I'm walking down a paved backroad in Kentucky
But there are three little kids back at the house
And birds flying overhead
And a little snow from this blackberry winter

I begin to think this backroad in Kentucky isn't as bad as I once thought
I begin to think I'd better love this place because for now
It's all I've got
