our early morning coffee conversations
evoke wistfulness of your watercolor memories
so much so
that I sometimes desire to ink out the dark contours of my recollections
in order to share in yours

through a welcome act of self-deception

harvesting vegetables from my mother’s garden
gigging frogs with my brother after midnight
hiking steep mountains to sleep in bear cages
snorkeling in Kingston through reefs of deep purple
teaching English to curious adults in Hiroshima

what is there in me to share
to take you to like places?
