On My Way Out

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Eternal joy and eternal bliss
An eternity with nothing that I’ll miss
No sorrow, pain or worry there
It’s so good Lord; it’s just not fair

I’m glad that life’s not fair at all
Now if it was I’d only ball
I’d cry my eyes out day and night
Wishing that I had learned to fight

But I have One who’s fighting for me
And in the end He will restore me
He’ll call me and say: Come up here!
As those who killed me look on in fear

And then perhaps on my way out
I’ll turn around and give a shout
A shout of joy that I was saved
From among those men who are depraved
