From the day you held me in your arms
Your love has never faded.
From praising me or scolding me
Your love is why I've made it.
You kissed my hurts and hugged my fears
Patched scars that I created.
Whether falling down or broken heart
Your love is why I've made it.
Going through those teenage years
Your life you would have traded.
Then having shipped me to dad's house
Your love is why I've made it.
I never seemed to get things right
Bad choices that you hated.
From boyfriends and addiction
Your love is why I've made it.
The time you spent to see me through
The praying and the waiting.
You made my life your living quest
Your love is why I've made it.
Tracing back through all these years
Your love was never wasted.
I'm here today to be by you

About this poem
I wrote this for my mom who has endured so much for me and because of me. She has loved me through the roughest times of my life and helped me to remain strong. Her unconditional love is why I have been able to make to this point in my life and not dead somewhere. "Your Love Is Why I've Made It" was written in about 15 minutes once I said those words to her one day while giving her a big hug. She's my hero, my best friend, and my inspiration.
