Some Day, Not Today

Some days its water consumes the bed,
Some days the river is nothing but a sheet of blanket to the bed,
The fishermen pray for the former,
They will not get that,
Some days the fishes are in every nick and cranny of the river,
Some days they all hide beneath every small corner hidden width the depths of the river,
The fishermen pray for the former,
They will not get that,
Some days they are the rulers of the river,
Some days they can’t even catch a rock,
The fishermen pray for the former,
They will not get that,
Not today at least,
Not today at least.

About this poem

I based this poem around my constant frustration to be perfect. When I want to win first place and set new bests, only to be disappointed. I wrote it in the hopes that I could rant off these feelings and understand it’s okay to not be the best everyday and that mistakes happen.
