Rhapsody
The melodic rhythm soothes my mind with visions of the past fresh from days long left behind.
Rhapsody, as smooth as a washed over stone thrown over eons of time.
The beats of drums that succumbed to a world of change; Kings of the past unearth generations of things we've yet to discover, uncover and unleash with our voices.
Rhapsody, as smooth as a washed over stone thrown over eons of time.
No silent lingers for our allegretto to the discovery of talent that can no longer be masked by the dawn, nor be muted by those who don't believe in change.
No blues, no syncopated lies to bring us to our demise. Just plain old fashioned rhythms that tell of a life anew.
A spirit shaped by war and peace, poverty and religion all coiled in the most amazing cantata.
Rhapsody, as smooth as a washed over stone thrown over eons of time.
About this poem
This poem is an original piece I wrote over 20 years ago. It was written as an homage to my ancestors for paving the way, setting the standard for Black people/ people of color, who through their perseverance opened the gateway to dream big!
