"Be kind, Please rewind"

Robert Colin 1983 (Pittsburgh)

Wandering blind through tall grass,
An unkept field that is my thoughts,
Recovery in its simplest form,
Addictions detour unblocked,
*
As I wake again a newborn,
I must crawl before I walk,
Misunderstanding the problems,
The solutions will never unlock,
*
Introducing all the vulnerability,
Showing hard times are available,
Learning it's not a weakness,
But the ability to be maleable,
*
The onset of becoming clean,
Suggestions replace reservations,
The awareness I've lost control,
And must extinguish any hesitations,
*
A flood of good and bad,
And experiencing all the emotion,
I cope with every unknown,
Slowly increasing my devotion,
*
Incorporating faith into choices,
And being uncomfortable to agree,
When vigilance becomes a must,
The soul accomplished and carefree,
*
Now the journey has restarted,
And my eyes begin to open,
Clearly navigating day by day,
That field turns into a garden.
