Did you listen.

Heather Lydia Thornhill 1981 (Manchester)

Did you listen to the birds
As they woke you from your slumber
So softly they called you as you mumbled.
Did you listen to the kettle that would help quench your thirst.
So lightly it boiled when your head felt the worst.
Did you listen to my heart skip a beat at the sight of you.
So eager to please on your cue.
Did you listen to my kiss as it crept up to your cheek.
So softly planted on whom it did seek.
Did you listen for the cars that rumbled the morning.
So strong their engines determine.
Did you listen for my goodbye as I waved you away.
So far in your daydream I wished you would stay.
