Between God and ME

I was wild and couldn’t be tamed
Raised right but went my own way
A hot head with a cold heart
My reflection in the mirror is the only one to blame

With a chip on my shoulder
And a gun in my holster
I took what I wanted
Until life gave me what I needed

All the mistakes,
Heart breaks
The give, the take
The choices I made

Dead ends, wrong turns
Brick walls and bridges burned
Beaten and bruised
I’ve made it through
The rest of the mess
That’s between God and me

Time in prison
Can make or break a broken man
But I turned the gilded pages
And found true religion

Now I make an honest living
And am blessed to be giving
To those who are in need
As the good lord did for me

All the mistakes,
Heart breaks
The give, the take
The choices I made

Dead ends, wrong turns
Brick walls and bridges burned
Beaten and bruised
I’ve made it through
The rest of the mess
That’s between God and me
