Your Joy, My Sun

Your smile is my bright sunny day,
Your laughter is as lovely as summer's way,
Your joy is simply my sunshine,
In your happiness, I feel warm and fine.

But you take the sun away from each day,
When you frown and take your smile away,
I hate the dark stormy clouds of your anger,
When you hurt, I feel it too like a dagger.

I hate your tears,  it ruins my summer with rain,
I hate your tears as I hate to see you in pain,
My world looks dark and bleak with no sun,
My world looks wretched with nowhere to run.

Except you smile to brighten my days,
Except you laugh to bring summer's ways,
For without your joy, there's no sun to shine,
For without your happiness, I am cold and not fine.

About this poem

This poem captures how I feel about a certain special person and how much I yearn to see her happy, because in her joy I find mine.
