Mercy Prayer
Rebuke me not with Your wrath,
Nor chasten with displeasure;
Guide me down the narrow path,
Be gracious with good measure.
Have mercy upon me, O Lord,
I languish and need to heal;
That my plea not be ignored,
And give me spiritual zeal.
For this life has been perplexed,
Being filled with so much strife;
My bones and soul became vexed,
With such hardship in my life.
How long Lord, must I endure,
Save me with Your steadfast love;
For mercy sake make me pure,
With Your compassion thereof.
For death has no remembrance,
Who shall praise You from the grave;
Such a load of encumbrance,
While living can You save.
I am weary and moaning,
Every night I flood with tears;
Deep inside I am groaning,
Trying to avert my fears.
My eyes are consumed by grief,
Growing weak because my foes;
I need to feel Your relief,
Letting confidence to grow.
Workers of evil depart,
For the Lord has heard my voice;
For creating a clean heart,
Allowing me to rejoice.
For the Lord has heard my plea,
He has accepted my prayer;
Rids me from iniquity,
Through compassion, He does share.
All my foes shall be ashamed,
As my trouble is turned back;
While their lives have been shamed,
Because of faith that they lack.
