I am a box

Ryan Lala 2005 (Virginia)

I am a box,
I am like paper
But a little bit thicker
And I contain
 sheet fulls of stickers

I travel in a truck
With all of my friends
Is where I am tucked
But to be honest
It kind of sucked

Once the truck has stopped
I get sent to the door
With a bow in which I am topped
Then I get set on the floor

The mailman says his goodbyes
Then a child opens the door
With tears in her eyes
And she brings me inside

She opens my cover
And with a halo that hovers
Over her head
Inside she finds her prize
She takes out my gift, with a gleam in her eye

After that, my purpose is complete
My life has no other meaning, its time that I meet my doom
But I am confused, when she brings me to her room

I enter her room, and I see a small kitten
Confusion is what I am smitten
But when that cat climbs inside
I realize my new purpose is a place for it to hide

About this poem

This poem was created because of an English project I worked on. The project was about describing the life of an inanimate object. I took it a step further and decided to turn it into a poem. I got a 105 out of 100 on the project.
