SERVANTS OF THE REAPER

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

The servants of the reaper
Perform his loathsome tasks,
Killing, maiming, devastating
Rampaging soon after dark.

Hunting down the innocent
Running completely berserk,
Slaughtering men, women, babies
As they do the Reaper's work.

Throughout the loathsome night
The servants are quietly creeping,
Until they catch the unwary
Then they're brutally reaping.

Tearing limb-from-limb
Every guileless passerby,
Within this moonless avenue
Many innocents will die.

The servants of the reaper
Set out in an evil band,
Spreading death and mayhem
Across this doom-cursed land.

Slaughtering thousands
Within a very short time,
They hunt in plague proportions
Across sunny and wintry climes.
