Mouthwatering Gift

My toast is seared
Begs to be devoured
Fruit of the earth
Aromatic, brown grains
Crusty, uneven
Spread light butter
Best with sweet, chunky strawberry jam
Savor each bite upon bite
Toasty, texture over tongue
The total taste
Teased flavor inhaled through nostrils
Swallow, bite to my heart’s delight
And think
Ah, the wonderful tangible things
More promises ahead
Such joy from such simple
Splendid bread
Crunch, crunch
Satisfied for now with this abundance
Hardly can contain myself
Only 14 more hours to go
And I can feast again
Carry on where I left off –
Push aside those artificial, material treasures
Nothing compares to this remarkable
Mouth-watering gift!
