That Poor Mr. Egg

Joan Elizabeth White 1961 (South Carolina)

That Poor Mr. Egg

That Poor Mr. Egg, What was he think'n?
To go up that high, well he must've been drink'n

See Poor Mr. Egg, was just a shell of a man,
Why he climbed that great wall , I'll never understand!

He climbed to the top, way out on a ledge, he said: Hey, look at me, as he leaned over the edge.

He sat on that wall and waved at all the passers-by
and they waved back at him and I'm sure they wondered
why.

After all who in the world was he try'n to impress
was it his wife, or just another egg in a dress

Reguardless of all of the reasons why, I tell ya for a
egg, he was just to blame high.

For the strong winds, came, he rocked forward then back, that's when I saw him fall, and yes, I heard him crack!

Oh I ran to the scene with my pan and my short little legs , cause I tell ya my friends, noth'ns better
than ham with eggs!

About this poem

This poem is a twist on a old tale. It is about a Egg who when drinking made a bad choice, though it does not say the egg was drinking. I hope people can find the humor and get the hint about bad choices
