Memories & Moments

If a picture is worth a thousand words,
Then what does a video do?

What do I do when I replay a perfect moment?

How do I not fall in love all over again,
When I see that smile and hear your laugh!

Or look at myself and remember just how much you lit up my world!

Because if my eyes are the windows to my soul,
Then baby you would see heaven!

If cloud nine existed,
That’s where you’d find me.

And there was no way I could’ve finished the wall around my heart,
Because you bulldozed it down and made yourself right at home.

I put up a fight,
But I knew this fight was just to see how far you’d go.

My test for you, to test your truth, it’s not what you say but what you do and to my surprise you passed,
Until you didn’t!

I didn’t understand it at first and I still don’t now,
But you’re gone!

Because it was better to run away than face the fear of being hurt again,
Better to play it cool and act as friends but I couldn’t pretend,

Because the love I felt was more than you deserved,
And as I struggle to think of an excuse to convince myself you’re not at bad as you made yourself seem,

I come up with nothing!

I hold on to these memories because they hurt a little less,
I’d rather smile through the tears then focus on the broken promises.

And I know that time heals all but until then I’ll press play to provide some relief to this chaos in my heart,

Because all that’s left now are memories and moments, looking back,
Freeze frame, Picture perfect,
This is where I’ll forever hold it.

Janice Quiles

Writing is my happy place as well as an escape. It helps me to express what I may not have the courage to say to others or about certain situations. I’ve been writing since I was 8 years old but not many know this about me so I hope to use this as the first step to putting myself out there. Thank you for reading and for your support ❤️ more…
