Entitled To Love

Entitled to love

I fear being alone although I have already isolated myself.
I fear being in the dark, although I have been walking in the valley of shadows.
I fear the cold embraces, however I am a victim of such activity.
I fear the warmth that comes with tears, despite my drowning in this heat.

They say with birth comes a love that it is gentle, but how come all I ever felt was a love that is tough?
I am aching for a touch I never felt and yearning for a pat on my shoulder, to tell to hold on a little longer.
I needed a fan to build me, a companion to heal me.
Someone to carry the burden when I cease not to face the day.

Tied by the blood and torn apart by my insecurities.
I could almost feel the space between us since the cutting of my umbilical cord, they took the bond we had and threw it in a bowl as cold as a butchers' playground.
They burnt it to ashes!
OUCH! I must say for all the smiles shared with people I thought needed it most.
OUCH! For the hand that went out to those I thought mattered least.

You were supposed to love me.
You supposed to comprehend me.
You were supposed to know my deepest vulnerabilities-
Something which you shared with the world when I opened like a butterfly in a cacoon.
Stupid me, for thinking it was spring, stupid me, for thinking there were flowers out there.
Stupid me! For thinking I could be beautiful with my flaws even just for a day.

I still get excited when you take a glance at me,
even if it's just to show the world you own something.
You forgot to tell them that I was made of glass and had already lost my shape when you broke me. And the reflection seen in that glass is like that of a puzzle's pieces.

Can't you see you're hurting me?
Can't you see I'm just an infant in need of your love?
Can't you see I too am entitled to love?
