Adventurer's Wonderland

Oh, beautiful bookworm’s dream world, you sweep me into
A billion universes of fantasy and daring escapades.
I am a heroine, protecting my loved ones from harm,
Then I’m a queen, ruling over all fairly and justly,
Then a young animal exploring the wild on its own.
I feel the thin, finger-slicing paper beneath my hands,
Smelling the wood’s lovely form and the black ink
Transformed into meaningful words that change lives.
The peacefulness of the gentle beeping of the checkout,
Where introverts relax and let all troubles fade away.
Oh, happy haven, so perfect for me, and life is at last
Joyful for me so I won’t cry for a while, at least.
Keep me near, my fictional friends, so I’m not lonely,
And keep me warm with the daring adventures
To pump the pounding blood through my system to keep me
Awake long enough to continue the journey with you.
Oh, stay with me in my dreams so I can live to see
The heroic ending to a great quest,
Where I can be whoever I want to be,
And I can at last have peace, hope, and joy once again.
Take me quickly, oh please, before the time runs out
And I must face reality once more,
With dreams that can’t come true.
Many girls wish for handsome princes to save them,
But all I long for is fairytale bookshelves from you,
O sweet, unjudging place of a mind’s rest, O my bookstore.
