" Me"

Michelle Lynn Gaines 1974 (Circleville ohio)

People will always judge me,
By what lies and gossip they hear.
They act like this is how I wanted to be,
When in reality this was my biggest fear.
My story they don't know,
Always quick to judge me rather than learn about me.
All my heartache and pain I never let show,
Just another thing for them to talk about once they see.
If only they walked in my shoes for just one day,
All alone, feeling lost and trying to find my way.
I pray one day God will set me free.
For the past several years,
So much I have been through,
And have shed so many tears.
Somehow I lost myself and don't know what to do.
Everyone thinks I enjoy living this way,
When I would rather just die.
I struggle to get through another day,
But nothing ever changes no matter how hard I try.
