The Change

Drastic 2003 (Cape Town)

Joe was a boy that had zero fears
He would jump from the roof to pool with his peers,
Skate fast down the hill so till the wind gave him tears,
I even heard he once juggled spears

He was a boy who just didn't care
He was brave or dumb whichever one you fair
He even threw stones at houses, I saw him, I swear
He could stare holes in your chest with that menacing and glare

But out of the blue he started to change
No longer was he weird no longer was he deranged
There was no banging at night which to me was strange
But I soon came to love this noisy-kid-exchange

One day as I tried to go sleep
I heard a distant shout, "Absorption complete"
Opened my curtain and saw Joe standing in the street
With black ooze rolling down his face as he weeps

"What can I do" I didn't know
I opened my door and left real slow
I couldn't tell whether he was a friend or foe
Until I looked him in the eyes and saw no Joe.

About this poem

This is going to be a recurring theme, because I really want to make a fleshed out story with this
