The Sixth Sign
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Christ saw a man blind since birth,
Who sinned this man be born blind;
To cause this for what it is worth,
That has caused to lose their mind.
It is not that this man sinned,
That works of God be displayed;
Not be poorly disciplined,
Nor that he disobeyed.
We must work the works of Him,
Who sent Christ while still day;
Night is coming looking grim,
And seek the Father to pray.
As long as Jesus is here,
He is the light of the earth;
Everyone then must revere,
To experience new birth.
Christ then took dirt and made clay,
Which was made mud from His spew;
Anointed his eyes to pray,
Then washing eyes to pursue.
The man then able to see,
Was he who had sat and plead?
Others asked how could this be,
Now his eyesight could succeed.
How then he opened his eyes,
Because this is the same man;
Is not a sham or disguise,
Rather the Lord with a plan.
When he washed and received sight,
Others had asked where is He;
Who lets someone see the light,
Makes the blind able to see.
