Revived

3 days pass, no activity on Facebook
Phone straight to voicemail
No evidence found of life not took
Old friend called and the local jail

Previous visions seen high as a kite
Timing of Respirations 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Horrors unimaginable there is no light
Syringe empty, eyes are fixed

Nurse answers phone, nausea takes hold
In search I make my motherly plea
This shift no Jane Doe’s.. I fold
Crumbling to the floor, weeping uncontrollably

I have become a shell of emptiness
Nothing to give to anyone, I am consumed
I cannot sleep until I know there is still breath
Grieving a child who has not yet passed

Day 8 no word, feel like a zombie
life insurance paid to date, 40 thousand worth
21 years young, still just a baby
How can I go on, precious child I birthed

You are my sunshine will be played
Her Bible in coffin or will I keep?
Over time will her memory slowly fade?
Final place in a vault, urn, or 6 feet deep?

What size is she now, she doesn’t eat
Cheeks sunken in, looks so frail
Bruising on arms, as if she was beat
Do not judge you know not our hell

Day 642 and her light shines bright
Job held and relationships restored
Sobriety is beautiful but can be lost over night
Taking nothing for granted help come from her Lord.
