The Chicken & The Armadiller

Daniel E. Mayon 1948 (Galena Park, Texas)

Days cycle the many nights,
The Sun comes up, always bright.
"Greetings boys, how do yawl do?"
"Yesterday, when I was young,
Was as happy as a half dead chicken
In a fifty-five gallon worm bucket drum.
Now, I feel as bad as a dead armadiller
Changing lanes!
Thanks for asking, friend.
Have a good day."
