Closure

Amos Wutawunashe 1963 (Gutu)

Closure
I stood at the precipice of a decision
I felt as it pierced like a painful incision
That my world needed a new season
Yet the old status tarried without reason
I search deep in my heart for closure

The world around me kept moving
I lost balance so I kept on moving
I could not control the motion of my thoughts
For they kept on moving with no destination
I search deep in my soul still no closure

I contemplate a jump from the dizzy precipice
I feel it will liberate my mind from the edge
As I make a firm affirmation I need to explore
That sweet spot in me that is decisive
I end my search with the thought that I am the closure I need.

About this poem

This poem is about the elusive nature of closure. The conclusion is that closure does not reside in emotion but in us. Closure is a decision.
