Tear Me Down

Makaylla Ligget 1994 (Sandpoint, ID)

Why do you always gotta tear me down
Like I’m an old abandoned house
Does it make you feel like you’re on top of the world
If it does then that makes me wanna hurl

So go on tear me down
Go ahead, show people who you are
Just stand there looking proud
While I show everyone all these scars

When you think you look so badass
Everyone sees the damage done
Why must you always be so crass
This kind of damage doesn’t come undone

I brush you off but you’re always there
Every word and every stare
All these words of negativity
Tattooed on my soul permanently

Never ever good enough
Always focused on the wrong
You think you are so tough
The damage behind you is a mile long

Degrading and manipulation isn’t what “real men” do
Real men love despite the flaws
Not my fault that your ego is bruised
To the deserving boy here’s your applause

Try to tear me down and break my soul
Your words may be spoken
Shut me down and try to achieve the goal
You can’t break someone who’s already been broken

Tear me down just like a coward
Yet you do it so proud
Yet you act like you have so much power
But a real Queen never throws away her crown
