Forever Young

Stir my sombre soul, Oh Lord!
For every cell of my being begs for mercy
The crevices in my mind
Are letting, transparent emotions pound through
Yet I must remain a silent sea
Vast, deep & mysterious
With creatures crawling its depth
And only a quake may wake its ebb
So with waves it may retaliate
Yet never hurting the life inside
For I might become the purple sky
Dusky, cold & patient
Embracing the veil of impending darkness
To give rest to my gazer’s sight
So must you let me be an empty space
More or less, I would leave no trace,
And may your attempts to satiate me
Shall forever disappoint your intentions
While my doing may seem to be bidding adieu Oh Lord, the cuckoo will still hum
The tunes emanating my crevices..
And as the fluttering red leaves of autumn
My heart will be, forever young…

About this poem

It talks about the aspirations of human beings to be "young-at-heart". How we mostly wish to breakout of our mundane life and experience world with open heart, feeling each emotion. How our education and years of experiencing life makes us still but we do at times want to breakout, raise our voice against things/issues yet remain child enough to accept our mistakes. Ultimately, the kind of legacy we want to leave behind. All this being the theme of the poem.
