The Removal

Matthew Sean Markonis 1984 (Santa Barbara)

All forfeits. Nothing ceases,
But it's pinstriped elbow drops,
Curious of strange diseases.

. . .

The door without access—
Its key without teeth...
Innumerably sighing.

. . .

Peace. A deposit. A held word.
I have seen you before,
In this silence,

Somehow: posthumously
Regaled,

As deep as a wing,
As wide as a briefcase, walking.
