Invisible Dread

Free verse
the invisible dread
creeping 'round every corner
ready to leap out
and startle my distortions
to life

the doom speakers
and fortune tellers
eager to weave
the tales of fear rought
with strife

easy breathing
winds of calm
batter 'gainst
the steadfast walls
inside

so secure despite
the insecurities they guard
standing resolutely
filled with terrifying
pride
