A thing of the past......

A thing of the past....

Someone once told me that the death of my mother would become a thing of the past,
Its like she was here today but gone by tomorrow, its now time to change the cast,
Second guessing love, damn that was fast.......
But what happens when it wasn't their time to go, time was suddenly taken away,
Im supposed to let go of the death of my mama because it pleases everyone else, there's nothing left to say,
But im definitely glad to know that you feel that way........
A thing of the past is something that's gone, it no longer exists,
You must say your goodbyes now, because shes never coming back no matter how hard you wish,
There's something new for your Christmas list.....
They say everything dies, we're born, we then play the cards we were given and then we die,
I was once told its ok to mourn, not for to long though, wipe those tears shes gone no need to cry,
Just let it go, let those feelings fly.
It's as though a loved one dying is supposed to be irrelevant, something erased,
Just like a crumbled piece of paper put in the trash, or a broken heart showing a poker face,
Damn back up give me some space.....
They say when a baby is born all it knows is it's mother, a mother's love, a mother's heartbeat,
But its like this no matter how many times you turn the record, this heartbreaking song stays on repeat,
So say all you want, you were never there your talk is cheap,
So now you can leave your message at the beep.......

About this poem

I wrote this poem right after my mother passed away, one of her siblings told me " its ok to mourn, but not for to long. You're mom will become a thing of the past ". So this poem tells my feelings based on those words....

I share your grief, time is a great healer but it is not complete, Losing a .loved one
is a life long venture, You will never completely get over it
I have found out writing about it does help and especially different poetry.
