Hurt nation

You may not know of this place; it offers no salvation
But we have all been there before; it's known as hurt nation
Hurt Nation is a state of mind intended to leave you in scars
Preaching to its people that we're nothing and won't go far
This state causes us to perceive The world as a cruel place
Ready every second to beat you down and spit in you face
It causes people to be stuck in one place
Feeling as though they won't know anything but pain and disgrace
The disgraced start to dwell on this feeling and pass it on to the meek
The ones who try to live and are perceived as weak
Bringing down those who try to change the situation
Of a society in deep pain, a hurt nation
A nation whose citizens are begging for a feeling of comfort and ecstasy
That can only be provided by others through human decency
Human decency is there, the path already paved
But the insults and disrespect pile on as people raved
Causing others to fall down
So far that they start to drown
Almost no time to be saved
Those who sink lose themselves in a deep dark ocean
That is the product of other's negative emotions
You probably experienced this before, this feeling of sinking
Sinking that inflicts pain and suffering on your mentality
Of who you are as you develop a hatred towards reality
That most cope with by porn, smoke and drinking
Instead of grabbing a hold of your destiny, you are forced to take a back seat
Forcing you in stasis, never to know anything except defeat
This lack of change starts to destroy the new generation
Forcing them to remain still with us in this hurt nation
Without progress, we are left to buy, even steal, more material possession
So we are are able to bury ourselves down with our depression
Depression caused by the pain of insecurity from our past
Trying so desperately to move on but letting it last
This feeling of defeat, this feeling of depression, this feeling of desperation, this hurt,
causes insecurities that may last forever
But as your soul is torn apart, you become more clever
About how you aren't how the world sees
And all the things you thought of yourself weren't true
And hurt nation was only a box under lock and key
And the only one locking you away was you
So it's time to set yourself free
Because you are exactly what this world needs
The world needs change that only comes from God, and you are the proof
That there is life beyond hurt and there is realization in truth
About how the world really is in pain and why we must care for others
And the people who you thought were your enemies were actually your brothers
Brothers who are in pain and feel helpless
As if hope is out of range
But there is still hope, even for the most reckless
To rise up and to inspire change
Change that sets into motion positive desire
To do great things that animate creation
That fuels a new fire
Saying we don't have to stay in hurt nation
We all tell a story that has an impact on strangers, children, parents, husbands and wives
At last We should realize there are two things we can do with our lives
We can either live in defeat or save everyone by creating inspiration
And as we save others, we save ourselves from our own hurt nation

About this poem

This is something I wrote long ago that I thought was lost. It's rough, but it meant a lot to me to write it.
