NIGHTMARE JOURNEY

You journey through a land
Of active volcanoes and fire,
Where corpses line the streets
And your survival chances are dire.

And mounds of grinning skulls
Fill the roads and the alleyways,
Streets are flowing with crimson
Beneath the blood moon's rays.

Manticores and Leviathans
Haunt this dreadful place,
Formless wraiths glide in the wind
To wrap around your helpless face:

Sucking out your very life force
They steal away your final breath,
Leaving behind an empty husk
Leaving your body draped in death.

You journey through a land
Where compassion is unknown,
Inhaling thick, polluted air, through
which only dead things have flown.

Fire and brimstone filling
Your aching, burning chest,
In a land where nothing lives long
And death will be your only rest.

You travel through fallen buildings
Avoiding lethal rocks slides,
In this land of foul acid rain
Where myriad innocents have died.

In your endless questing
You know you ever must go on,
Unaware the reaper is following
Overtaking you before long.

THE END
