Begone

Free verse

I felt it slice
As I paid the price.
It was painful,
I felt shameful.
How could I ever,
Get rid of you?
You wish I’d say never.
But I knew
Eventually I would have to.
I don’t need you, Fear.
Everything is now clear.
I have to let you…
Go.
Please.
Don’t.
Come.
Back.
Begone.

About this poem

Fear is a very powerful enemy. It can paralyze you into thinking you can’t do anything. It has taken me awhile. But I realized that even though letting fear go could be very hard, the potentials of a life without fear could be great.
