Half-Way House

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

No one should accept,
Or approve it to agree.
To live their life half-way.
In any house.
Without going all out,
Wanting their dreams to wish...
For them to come true.
They could and should remove,
From their minds...
A choosing to exist,
Within restricting mental bars!

It only takes,
A decision that makes...
An initiative to motivate that action.
To know,
What one is in need the most...
Is a rehabilitation needing a feeding,
With accepting the truth to not delude...
That no dream one wishes to come true.
Can not be done,
In any house one stays...
Living their life half-way.
Expecting a door heard knocked upon,
Opened.
Without them,
Taking the initiative to discover...
What is on the other side of a door,
Done to refuse to explore...
And adventure more,
That which is outside kept to ignore!

Who is it,
Refusing to be inquisitive?
Or...
A little bit nosey to be curious.

No one should accept,
An approval left to agree...
That a living half-way in their house,
Will deliver to them from the outside...
Those opportunities they believe,
Should to them come knocking.
Hand delivered and easily received!

Living half-way,
Has never been proven beneficial.
To anyone wishing to want,
All that is possible...
To experience a life,
As full as they can.
Without complaining about,
Others who risk...
Chances to take,
Opportunities that may or may not...
Await for them,
Just around the block!
Then to say,
How lucky someone else had been...
To be at the right place at the right time,
Given whatever they wanted...
From out of nowhere just handed to them.
Some of us are creatures,
Of our own homemade fairytales.

Life to live it blessed to get,
No one should restrict themselves...
To complain about limits.
And not enough time.
To do nothing with it but sit.

And why?

Why should anyone consciously decide,
Wishes to want them.
But will claim a living half-way,
Is a dream to want come true?
Only to invest in an attitude more moody.

Kept to keep lieing to themselves.
And experts many become doing it.
Skilled and gifted with this talent.
For the purpose to accept,
An approval of their own B.S. sold.
Hoping to sell this to everyone else!
Told to convince others.
Yet...
Themselves left the ultimate buyer.
Then one day,
A loud urgent knocking...
On their locked and closed door is heard.

'GET UP AND GET OUT HERE! NOW!'

'Excuse me...
And who are you?
Knocking on my door.
Believing you can talk to me like that?'

'Your Dream Maker.
And I am tired of coming here,
Repeatedly.
Trying to convince you,
It is time to quit your nonsense.
Now pay attention and listen.
Undivided with much clarity.
Your wishes to want them to come true?
Are not going to come...
Unless you move.
So...
Get up and get out and away,
From the comfort of your...
Delusion filled fictioned house!'

'I can not believe to me,
You can be that disrespectful.'

'Believe it.
Now get up and get out.
Your time is not mine to waste.
You got that?'
Feel me to believe it.
You dreamers
Get on my last cotton picking nerve!'

'Are you?
Could you be...'

'No!
I am not one of your,
Long to be gone revisiting ancestors.
Are you kidding?
They wouldn't listen to me either!
And...
I wouldn't wish for that assignment,
For a brand new tractor promised...
That replaced a rusty plow!'

'Are you sure you are,
Who you claim to be?'

'Look.
I have no more time,
For this show up and tell stuff.
Either you get up and get out,
Living your life...
Half-way in this funky house.
Or...'

'Or...
What?'

'That I don't know.
Most people accept me for who I am.
But you...
On the other hand,
God did not prepare me for at all.
Do whatever you want.
I'm going to pray.'

'For me?

'No!
For the rest of us dream makers,
Given assignments...
Without medication to take.
To numb unexpected headaches.
And...
I have discovered for me,
It takes prayer and lots of it...
To undo my most difficult challenges.'
