My Apologies

I’m done throwing towels over people’s heads
The sun is not exclusive to me
And I retract the bullshit I’ve previously said
My ego would not let me go free
Each time I hurt you, I tried to justify with reasons
And when I could not find them, I blamed it on my inner demons
But it was only me
Lashing out of jealousy
Pushing buttons recklessly
I turned into who they made me out to be
All I can say now is I’m sorry
And I completely understand if you do not accept my apologies
But I’m sorry

Back then, villains were put on pedestals
And I deeply desired a gold medal
So I clawed my way to the top
Watched as pieces of me dropped
On the hardwood floor
A sad sight of gore
My friends salvaged those remains
As they had hope I would return to humane
Their hope was not in vain
And I am grateful for their efforts
Now that I’m out of the desert

Back to the subject at hand
I am not in the place to make demands
So I am begging on my knees
For you to accept my apologies
I am sorry for every ounce of pain I have caused
Every wrinkle, every scar
Every time I dragged your name
In dirt until it reeked of shame
I am the one feeling shame now
And I vow
Until my dying breath
I will try to redeem myself
And when I become nothing but bone
My apologies will be engraved on my tombstone
