Saga of Americans

'Saga of Americans': by Eva j Mejia
We wept when we saw the second plane crash, The lingering smoke told there had been another, The scene flashed through our minds, over and over, Then we thought on board of our being brother,
This is not true! We insisted to say, But it flashed on the news, in our mind to stay, That beautiful iron-bird with it's wings on wide, Soaring on, through an open sky,
Then it happened! The way it crashed, An awful site we couldn't percieve, We couldn't imagine what the cause, We stood still in great grief,
We quickly learned it was an attack, Memories flashed of Vietnam, This time it hit home, Our land as Americans, We remembered why we love our flag, Why Americans are strong and fight back,
Then it struck us how dare they, how cruel; How the enemy used Our technical tool; Innocent people on board the liner, Sabatoged as bombs, 2 planes crash into WTC, This way taking more lifes, you see?
Now it's done and two brothers are gone, Damaged too, is the Pentagon, Many are found but hundreds are missing, Chances of hope are reluctantly decreasing,
The cell phone calls came with trouble, "On board are hijackers, they are hostile", Learning thier Capital would be ruined to rubble, Innocence then fearlessly fought in a struggle,
The words, I love you and will miss you, Have lingered in our hearts before, but Then all of a sudden.....the cells went dead, That's when our hearts tore,
Our tears rolled down forever that day...For those words in our mind would stay, Dear loved ones were suddenly gone, But from the ramparts we move on,
As Americans, in peace we raise our children in love, September 11th, is a day they will learn of, and ask about, Prayers will be sent, to our God above, History books will change, with a great bout,
Where will we be in 2002, A year in grief, silently, warm in our homes and slumber in our beds, As civilians in faith, we won't ponder about the evil corrupter, the destroyer, the dread,
There is a man in Washington you see, One who speaks for our families free, We trust in his decisions, and what ever it be, As Americans we stand together in great unity, From Land, Air and Sea,
Americans we are, destined by the hand of God, Proud moments we've shared in the face of the rod, From the Halls of MountZuma, to the shores of Tripoli, To Manhatten Island and New York City, Take a look at the honor as we hold our flag, Our firefighters hoist her, not letting her drag,
Representing our Nation for her peoples freedom, She's braved the wind through the calm and storm, Aware of the tears that is her cause, Soldiers proudly protect her by the grace of the cross.
