Nowhere Near The Ground

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

The problem we all have,
And seem to care most to share?
Is an entitlement with a freedom given,
To find and complain about everything.
We alone have allowed to condone.

The problem we all have,
To deny, excuse or ignore?
Is the inconvenience to think.
With the using of our minds.
Done to do for ourselves.
Since this presents,
An incapability for many...
To spend their time,
Finding new ways to moan and whine.
About nothing to make that molehill,
A painful and devastating climb...
To the top of attention.
Sought to seek and satisfy,
A spoiled and childish thoughtlessness.
Taught from birth,
How to appease such selfishness.
And we all are guilty of at times.
When attention to get remains the focus!

This problem we have most to share.
With a caring less to be aware of it?
Is an addicting ungratefulness.
Expressed everywhere.
As if in need of a fix.
Shown to make known,
In the pettiness of our conflicts.
Racial division and beliefs to pick.
Whether or not deluded to fiction,
Our 'exceptionalism' to be,
The greatest of human beings.
Ever!
God has created and blessed.
To walk the Earth.
Portraying our worth,
To be better than the rest!
Of God's best creations.

With our noses held high.
And our feet somewhere else to float.
In some remote distant Universe.
Yet...
Nowhere near,
To have it clear to witness...
Planted on the ground.
Using minds found sound and connected,
To common sense and evidence...
That proves the use of sanity produced!

'My Chosen Disciples?'

'Yes, Almighty?'

'From where,
Did these mutant creatures come?
Nowhere on my list,
Do they appear...
As images to reflect any of us.'

'Your Most Significance?
You insisted,
For some of us to use our imaginations.
And your boy, 'Lucifer'?
Took You, Almighty...
For Your word.'

'Oh?
And where is he now?'

'Most All-Knowing,Omnipresent...
And Mysterious Doer of Ways.
Remember You telling him...
To display his nonsense somewhere else?
Well...
My guess,
Is that he followed Your directive!'

'That was a suggestion.
I'm telling you,
Some folks...
Take it upon themselves,
To take what I say out of context!'

The problem we all have?
And seem most to care and share?
Is this 'thing' we have,
About making impressions.
With the doing to imitate,
The best of fools to prove we can be!
Above and beyond,
Others who perceive to believe...
Themselves to be our competitors!

Whether we are taught to be fools or not?
This lesson to learn,
We can not deny...
Has been our goal and mission,
To prove...
What we do to ourselves and others,
Will be noticed.

Although approval to await for it?
With envious and jealous attention given.
May be a disappointing waste of time!
