Grade School

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Excited and inquisitive,
Many of us grow up to experience...
The living of our lives,
Beyond the teachings of grade school.
With this done to eventually discover,
Books studied to read...
Do not exactly,
Describe to depict...
Truth and its reality to be as is.
Especially,
As we are taught and made to believe...
Schools turn fools,
Into respected scholars and geniuses.

And to say there are discrepancies?
Well...
Let it be said,
Exaggerations to embellish...
Can be arguably an understatement.
When jealousies are sold,
Told by those...
Who boast and relish their desceptions.

Although...
Some do graduate,
From high school and college.
To hopefully obtain knowledge.
With degrees to certify abilities to think.
And done to not question,
Their intelligence had to use and think.
Independently.

However,
Common sense to expect it?
With a wisdom to share?
Has yet been connected...
As a prerequisite to have achieved.
Before, during or after,
Those who do receive such degrees...
Can do this done to verify,
The process was worth the investment!

'We are so happy,
To have someone like you...
Considered as a candidate,
To join our establishment.
What would you say,
Is your greatest asset?'

'Well...
Not to be a braggert about it.
After a few drinks,
I am known to be the life of the party.
And no one has yet,
Been able to twerk like I can.
To drop it sizzling hot!'

'I see!'

'Do you want me,
To demonstrate this for you?'

'Uh...
No.
But we will keep your file.
And notify you.
When we have made a decision.'

'Sounds good.
However...
If you want the best?
Don't pass up the opportunity.
Folks like me are rare and in demand.'

'Trust me.
I am willing to bet,
There will be no one capable...
To leave us that equals,
The impression you made!'

'Oh, yeah.
And when I rap?
I get down and funky.
You feel me?'

'Feeling you,
Has left your touch unforgettable.'

'Zap Jack!
I'm out!'

'Whoa...hold up.
Before you go.
It says here...
You have a DOCTORATE's degree?
May I ask...
In what field of study?'

'Communication.
With emphasis on human behavior.
That initiates incentive,
And communal motivation.
That endeavors efforts that achieves...
Profitable and meaningful benefits.
To increase that bottom line!
Regardless of one's ethic diversity.
In my World?
Money talks and B.S. walks away,
From appearances,
That seem unimpressive!'

'Hmmm. I see.
Very clearly.
Come...
Sit down and let's chat.
You have time?'

'Do I have time?
How much of it you want?
However...
I must warn you,
After an hour?
I want to get paid for my services.
I was taught that.
By some very street wise teachers.'

'And...uh,
What kind of salary do you expect?'

'Make me an offer!'
I can't refuse to accept.'
