Stormy nights

Jessica Millitello 1988 (United States)

Standing on the edge of a cliff,
Watching the lightning flash.
My mind goes adrift,
As the waves steady crash.
Tears blend in with the rain,
Across a face silhouetted by the moon.
With one step I could end the pain,
But that would be a moment too soon.
The wind whips my hair about violently, Somehow fitting though to the night.
I scream out all of the anger inside of me,
I will never give up the fight.
As long as I have left in me a choice,
I will choose always to carry on.
I have such power in my own voice,
And I will use it as my weapon.
