letting go

It hurts being let down
It hurts knowing that there is nothing I can do to stop it
An inevitable tear in my heart
glass shattered and wine splashed over the floor
I am the space that I exist in
I am holding onto beauty in a timeless void
Another punch is thrown and my heart clenches
it’s only a moment before I am mesmerized again
deep breaths

About this poem

this poem is about knowing something has gone terribly wrong and there is nothing you can do to fix it because you've taught yourself to move from one beautiful thing to the next, while letting whatever harm that is being done to you dissolve over and over again. (it still hurts)
